Thank you for 10 Days of Donations in December

On December 10, International Human Rights Day, we celebrated the final day of the National Justice Project’s 10 Days to Donate in December campaign.

We are grateful for the level of support we received over these 10 days after sharing what is at stake for the many refugee families who rely on us to help fight for their human rights.

  • On Day 1 we introduced our campaign with a reference to the shock of day one arrival in Australia for asylum seekers who then suffered horrific physical and psychological harms in offshore detention.
  • On Day 2 we pointed to the two successful test cases we took to the Federal Court and how we helped secure justice for two refugee families. We still have 40 more cases!
  • On Day 3 we acknowledged International Day of People with Disability and the high rates of disability amongst refugees, especially those held in offshore detention.
  • On Day 4 we reminded our supporters of children as young as four years of age diagnosed with Traumatic Withdrawal Syndrome and why we fought so hard to get kids off Nauru.
  • On Day 5 when it was International Volunteer Day we paid tribute to the many volunteers who have worked with us on these cases before the Federal Court.
  • On Day 6 we noted six years of fighting in court to secure justice for the refugee families who suffered physical and psychological harm while held in offshore detention,
  • On Day 7 we highlighted how many clients are living in limbo, not being able to plan seven months ahead as they need to apply for temporary bridging visas every six months.
  • On Day 8 we called out “2,4,6,8 human rights cannot wait” as a proud and loud voice of protest and advocacy for refugees and asylum seekers over many years.
  • On Day 9  we celebrated our nine years fighting for human rights justice with strategic legal action to create a fair and equitable society that is free from discrimination.
  • On Day 10 we marked International Human Rights Day and invited our supporters to join us in our 10th year in 2025.
